About Us
Our Beliefs
As Episcopalians, our worship style is traditional, retaining the ancient traditions and services of the first Christians. The Holy Eucharist is the center of our worship. At the same time, we approach God with a modern theological humility. We do not pretend to know all the answers. We engage with each other, with scripture and in prayer, and with 21st Century knowledge of God's creation. With this , we do our best to understand God's nature and will for us, and how we might respond to God's call to mission with our community and in the world.

Sacramental Life
The sacraments are outward and visible signs of inward and spiritual grace, given by Christ as sure and certain means by which we receive that grace. Grace is God's favor toward us, unearned and undeserved.
The two great sacraments given by Christ to his church are Holy Baptism and Holy Eucharist.
The other five sacraments are Confirmation, Ordination (of bishops, priests and deacons), Holy Matrimony, Reconciliation of a Penitent (confession and pardon) and Unction (healing of the sick-spirit, mind and body).

Our Mission
We want to be a people who care for, welcome, and support those around us in a way that can only be inspired by God. It's our hope that people who visit our church or interact with our people walk away feeling encouraged, refreshed, and drawn closer to God. We want everyone in our community to have the chance to experience and respond to the Gospel in action through our church.
"The mission of the Church is to restore all people to unity with God and each other in Christ.” – Book of Common Prayer
The people of St. George’s Episcopal Church in St. Louis Park strive to fulfill the universal mission of our Church by supporting one another on our faith journeys and through personal transformation, engaging individuals and communities in the message of reconciliation and hope.
At St. George’s, you’ll find a cross section of America, striving to live in harmony with God and with each other. This means you are welcome exactly as you are, wherever you might be in the journeys of your life. We’re committed to actively engaging with each other and with Christ’s teachings, living together in love, reaching into our faith and scripture to respectfully and joyfully travel together in God’s kingdom. In this way we hope to live into the Beloved Community described by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

St. George’s Episcopal Church has always been a strong supporter of STEP (St. Louis Park Emergency Program) by donating food and money. We also donate school supplies and holiday gifts and volunteer on the distribution days. A few members are also regular volunteers at STEP.

Several members volunteer delivering meals for Dinner at Your Door.
In the fall of 2022, St. George's Episcopal Church in St. Louis Park began a partnership with St. Christopher's Episcopal Church in Roseville to assist in supporting a family of recently immigrated Afghan refugees. The family was living in St. Louis Park at that time and members of St. George's primarily assisted with giving rides to and from ESL classes. The husband of one of the women was finally able to come to the U.S. in late 2024 and one of our parishioners was involved in getting him acclimated. This same member has also been involved with other family members who moved from New Jersey In March of 2024 and continues to be involved with the Afghan refugees. St. George's provided financial assistance to the family. Parishioners have donated household supplies and money to help these families.

Our History and Neighborhood
St. George’s Episcopal Church began its journey right after World War II, with a petition to the Bishop from about 50 households in the “Village” of St. Louis Park. On December 6, 1945, the congregation began meeting and praying in individual homes and a local Legion Hall. By the end of 1946, they’d hired their first rector and settled on a spot for their new church home. Like most metropolitan churches today, St. George’s has members that come many miles to participate in worship and church activities. We’re blessed, though, that so many of our members reside in or very near our home city of St. Louis Park. These include several of our newest members. Our Leadership
